New LED HDTVs to CES, acronym lovers are very happy!

In January, Westinghouse Digital likes to guide on down to Nevada and show off its wares for the next 12 months at CES. Everything in Las Vegas is super-sized, which is fantastic inspiration for Westy's new 70-inch LED HDTV that'll pump out 1080p episodes of "proper" CSI at 120Hz, with an 8ms response time. If your inner-city apartment doesn't have a 70-inch wall, then perhaps you'd prefer the new 46-inch ultra-slim LED HDTV that's so slender, it probably disappears if you look at it side-on, or something. The company's also gonna be screening off its first ever Bluetooth Soundbar that comes packing two 12 watt speakers, a class D amplifier and enhanced bass so you can really delight in those notch bars of Who Are You.

What is Ebay?

So, you stopped by because you want to know

“what is eBay?”

eBay  is a web based company that allows for sellers of very nearly any kind to auction or sell merchandise of a variety of types. Founded in 1995 by Pierre Omidyar, ebay still operates out of California. Much of the activity that goes on at eBay  has very small to do with the San Jose location.  This is due to the fact that people and/or companies from across the world that want to sell items offer them on the website. This allows people shopping for items to search through the innumerable offerings, make bids, or opt to make direct buys known as buy it now. The company officially changed the name of its service from AuctionWeb to eBay in September 1997. Originally, the site belonged to Echo Bay Equipment Assemble, Omidyar’s consulting firm. Omidyar had tried to register the domain name “echobay.com” but that name was not available. So he went with ebay instead. In case you are wondering, “bay’ comes from the fact they are located in the bay area of San Francisco.

There are many thousands of types of things to find on the ebay site.  It has become a fantastic place to get  hard to find items, like collectibles. Many people also use the site to search for bargains on used items such as electronics, small household appliances and others. With the exception of a few illegal to sell things, at any given time eBay® has a huge selection. Folks can shop by category and by specific item, or they can simply browse listings. Items aren’t always used. They can be groundbreaking new and offered by small stores that sign up as vendors. Alternately, some artisans and craftspeople sell some of their wares by setting up eBay® stores.

So what is eBay  Like today?

Well, eBay is quite uncommon now from what it was years ago. It started out with mostly individual sellers selling things they wanted to get rid of. kind of like a cyber yard sale. That was when it was at it’s best IMHO. It has since passed through the regulation and consolidation phases of the typical business cycle. During consolidation, very nearly all the small sellers were systematically weeded out and about all we have left is the huge ones. It’s is very appealing to me how consistently the 5 stages of business cycle through over and over over again through history. Anyway, I hope I have helped answer the question:
